Gillman’s School of Dance Summer Intensive
August 2nd-6th Monday-Friday 10am-3pm
Ages 8-12yrs.
$100
Our summer intensive is a great opportunity for dancers to enhance their training, improve their technique, gain strength, and experience all aspects of dance.
All classes will be held at the Crestwood studio taught by Ariadne Conner.
A Chicago native, Ariadne Conner relocated to Richmond, Virginia in 2003 to be a trainee with the Richmond Ballet. While a trainee, she had the opportunity to dance in Giselle, Swan Lake, Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, and original choreography by Richmond Ballet Faculty.
Prior to her two-year tenure as a trainee Ariadne was honored to work with outstanding teachers, many who worked personally with George Balanchine. Spending summers at the Houston Ballet Academy, Miami City Ballet, and the School of American Ballet in New York City, she worked with such teachers as Edward Villela, Suki Schore, Susan Pilar, Lauren Anderson, and Peter Boal.
Over the years, Ms. Conner trained at the Chamberlain School of Ballet in Dallas, Texas, with Marcia Dale Weary at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and with Dan Duell as a member of the Ballet Chicago Studio Company. During her time with Mr. Duell, she performed principle roles in Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, Theme and Variations, Serenade, Tarantella, and The Nutcracker.
Ariadne’s varied background of experiences has enabled her to transition from the role of performer to that of choreographer. When Ms. Conner choreographed for the trainees of Richmond Ballet in the 2006 and 2007, she was propelled into a whole new experience with dance. Ariadne co-founded Charlottesville Ballet in 2007 and she continues her unique vision for the company through her beautiful works of choreography. She is thrilled to become a part of the Louisville community and the opportunity to teach at Gillman School of Dance!

Welcome to Gillman's School of Dance. We strive to offer challenging programs that foster a love of dance at every level; from the serious dancer who intends to continue in the world of dance, to beginning dancers of all ages who want to experience the rewards that artistic discipline can bring to one's life.
Gillman’s School of Dance is proud to be the home of MAGIC, a youth dance company dedicated to providing a pre-professional performing experience to our dancers and bringing quality dance performances to the community.
Gillman's classes range from Creative Movement to Pointe and include multiple levels of Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Modern Dance. We also offer certification courses in the Cecchetti Ballet Method, focused on building a firm foundation in classical ballet technique, language and theory. We showcase our students each spring in our annual Recital, allowing dancers to experience what many have worked so hard to achieve: the glory of the spotlight!
One goal of our studio is to bring the art of dance into the community. We accomplish this by offering dance classes at many local preschools as well as the Oldham County Schools Arts Center.
Our Lower School not only provides superior training to nurture and develop young dancers, but also offers adult classes promoting fitness and personal fulfillment. These classes meet once per week.
Our Upper School provides intensive training for young dancers who aspire to professional careers in dance; and those who desire to train at a higher level and in multiple styles. The Upper School curriculum starts at three classes per week.
